Hello! I'm so glad you've stopped in for a visit! I'd like to tell you a bit about myself and why I created Witchy Living.
When I began working on Witchy Living, it was with the intention to put into action a dream that I'd carried within for a quite some time. In addition to hailing from a witchy family, I'd been an ICU RN for many years, and while I loved my job and was an excellent caregiver, I longed for something more, something spiritually intense that combined my life-long love of the occult with my desire to contribute to the witchy community as a whole. I'd forever dreamt of a witchy shop, a website, a discussion forum - but never "got around to it" because I was so busy.
The Fates intervened in November of 2007, in the form of a work-related hip injury that required surgery and a lot of physical therapy, and which left me partially disabled and walking with a walker, and then a cane. I am now no longer able to work as an ICU nurse. During the time after my surgery I became quite depressed because life as I'd known it had changed drastically. A close friend suggested that I begin to pursue my long-held dream and so I started an online forum and shop for witches. As I worked and researched what kind of shop and website to create, it occurred to me many times over that there are hundreds of shops and websites with excellent products for sale, interesting topics of discussion, and other similarities that are almost too numerous to list. How was I any different? How is our New Orleans shop any different from the other witchy shops out there?
Well, to be honest, the differences are often negligible. I've met so many people in the cyber-world and in the witchy world - pagans and witches like myself who are chasing a dream, who want to make a difference - and there are some damned fine people out there. What I HAVE noticed that sets us apart from one another is that we have different focuses, we walk different paths, we have different hopes and dreams - and that reflects in our shops and websites. Sure, some of our shop products and site content may be similar, but each also bear the stamp of our individuality, our own unique witchy flavor. You, the visitor/customer/member, get a different experience at each shop and each website that you visit - and that's as it should be.
I am fortunate and blessed as I continue to work toward full physical recovery, and thanks to the love and support of family, especially my mother Susan and my husband Kirk, I am now able to focus full-time on Witchy Living's Decatur Street shop in New Orleans. When I open the shutters to welcome customers, it is my hope that those who enter will find what they seek, and that upon departing will feel a sense of fulfillment and renewed focus on their own path. In that vein, Witchy Living helps to keep ME focused and positive, especially on the really bad days! My years of working as an RN provided me with a solid springboard that has enabled me to view all people, and life, in a totally open and holistic fashion, and now Witchy Living helps me to daily continue that way of thinking.
Please take a moment to read Witchy Living's Mission Statement & Philosophy. It is a brief outline of the honesty, diversity, and commitment to the Pagan and Witch community that you will find here on these pages, as well as in our New Orleans shop. Give it a peek - and perhaps you will find that my websites and my shop are suitable for what you seek, and you will return again and again. I sure hope so! It is my dream that Witchy Living will flourish and grow, and that relies 100% on keeping you, our customer and friend, happy and satisfied with the products and services we offer!
I'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions about my various sites, the podcast, and my New Orleans shop - just send an email my way! Thank you so much for visiting this website - click the various links and take a look around - and if you can, pop into our shop on Decatur Street for a hello and some tea.
Have a marvelous witchy day!
